Coronavirus/COVID-19: Vehocheck Continues to Support Your Business. Read more >>
Established over 10 years ago, T & J Waste Ltd of Edmonton , pride themselves on having the largest load carrying capacity on single units in the UK and provide bulk collection and delivery services to the demolition and scrap metal industries across the country.
By the very nature of the business engaged by T & J Waste, sustaining minor damage off road whilst loading or tipping is an occupational, and accepted hazard for the sector. Although the T & J drivers are mostly diligent and conduct their walk around checks on a daily basis, convincing DVSA that minor damage occurred during use with the traditional defects book was a challenge for both the driver and the company.
With vehicles and drivers often away from the operating centre for five days at a time, managing maintenance, repairs and ensuring compliance with road worthiness was a time consuming, paper based exercise, which was often a week in arrears whilst awaiting the drivers return.
Having to schedule an independent maintenance procedures audit, Chris Cox, General Manager at T & J Waste searched the marketplace for an uncomplicated solution that not only provided a transparent method to record, report and track defects, but also confirmed that the driver had conducted his check.
T & J Waste piloted the VehoCheck application on their drivers' existing smartphones which connect with the cloud and provide Chris with vital vehicle information just seconds after the checks are completed whether it be on his PC, Tablet or phone. So, without having to purchase additional hardware or software the solution was implemented within minutes.
The VehoCheck reports not only offer an overview of defects spotted but also a fully formatted Nil Defect sheet, all with a time, GPS location and duration stamp which are not only visible on the dashboard but also on the drivers phone report should he get stopped at a roadside check.
With instant visibility of the checks that have been undertaken, Chris is able to monitor and manage his drivers wherever they are and ensure they have not only done the check but have also undertaken it thoroughly, ensuring the vehicle is in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Where a roadside repair or back to base workshop repair is required, the built in work sheets provide an audited trail of the repair and authorised sign off with repair costs and reports on the lifetime of the vehicle.
Chris now has an overview wherever in the country his vehicles and drivers are, not only ensuring his drivers are compliant but also enabling him to make informed decisions on repairs, maintenance and routine safety checks.
At his inspection Chris was praised at the depth of insight he was able to offer. The auditor was impressed by the compliance monitoring the company was able to demonstrate with VehoCheck which was certainly a factor in the positive outcome recorded..
